Carlos Delclaux, President of Vidrala, receives the Ambassador of Álava Medal

As part of the Internationalisation Awards held on 29 May at the Gran Hotel Lakua in Vitoria-Gasteiz, the Álava Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services presented the Ambassador of Álava Medal to Carlos Delclaux Zulueta, President of Vidrala. This accolade recognises “his strategic leadership, commitment to sustainability, and outstanding track record at the helm of one of the most prominent industrial companies in the Basque Country and across Europe.”
Mr Delclaux received the award from the Chamber’s President, Gregorio Rojo, during a ceremony attended by over 180 institutional and business representatives, including the President of the Spanish Confederation of Employers’ Organisations (CEOE), Antonio Garamendi.
In his speech, Mr Delclaux expressed his gratitude for the honour: “It is both an honour and a great responsibility to receive this medal. Both personally and on behalf of Vidrala, through our infinitely recyclable glass containers, we will continue to represent Álava in the best possible way, both at home and abroad.”
He recalled that Vidrala has had its decision-making centre in Llodio since 1965, and is now an international group with more than 5,000 employees and leading positions in the glass markets of Spain, Portugal, France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Brazil.
He also highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in establishing Álava as a benchmark for sustainable industry, and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to regional development: “From Llodio, Vidrala has built an industrial legacy that aspires to continue growing, creating employment, driving innovation, and promoting a responsible business model.”
With this recognition, the Álava Chamber of Commerce underscores the contribution of Carlos Delclaux and the Vidrala project to the economic growth and international profile of Álava.
