Vidrala Marinha Grande is born

• With an annual production capacity of 2.6 billion glass containers, Vidrala Marinha will combine state-of-the-art industrial facilities, logistics infrastructure and fleet and, above all, the experience, talent and capabilities of our people within a single project, serving our customers.

• The new organisation will create a more agile, efficient and better-positioned operation, enabling us to manufacture our products and serve our customers in the most competitive and sustainable way possible, while maintaining a firm commitment to the Marinha Grande community.

• Under the motto “Juntos somos mais fortes”, Vidrala Marinha employees and their families have today celebrated the beginning of this new chapter. This step forward builds on the extensive industrial legacy of the century-old Ricardo Gallo Vidro de Embalagens, driven by the entrepreneurial spirit of the Gallo family, and Santos Barosa Vidros, developed by the Barosa family, whom we honour today.

Marinha Grande, 26 September 2026. Vidrala, a global reference in glass packaging for the food and beverage sectors, is taking another step towards modernisation by bringing together its operations in Portugal under the name Vidrala Marinha.

With a workforce of 900 professionals and an annual production capacity of 2.6 billion glass containers, the new organisation will create a more agile, efficient and better-positioned operation, enabling us to manufacture our products and serve our customers in the most competitive and sustainable way possible, while maintaining a firm commitment to the Marinha Grande community.

Through this integration, Vidrala will combine state-of-the-art industrial facilities, logistics infrastructure and fleet and, above all, the experience, talent and capabilities of our people within a single project, serving our customers.

Raúl Gómez, CEO of Vidrala, emphasises: “The integration of Vidrala’s operations in Marinha Grande is another example of our firm long-term industrial purpose: to manufacture our products and serve our customers in the most modern, competitive and sustainable way possible. As an expression of this shared identity, the historic production sites of Gallo Vidro and Santos Barosa will now operate as Vidrala Marinha Norte and Vidrala Marinha Sul, respectively.

Rui Santos, Plant Director at Vidrala Marinha Grande, adds: “This decision is also a recognition of Marinha Grande as the home of our people, of our roots and of everyone who, through their work, talent and commitment, has been part of our journey. It is a community that has also demonstrated, in the face of the recent Storm Kristin, its ability to remain united and overcome adversity. These are the people who have built what we are today and who will continue to be essential in shaping the future of this industrial hub.”
